Welcome to my Site

This website is dedicated to making life easier to all iPhone and iPod touch owners.

Apple's products are some of the best in the world (like the iPhone and iPod touch). But Apple has set bouandries that anyone who uses their products must follow. The iPhone, straight out-of-the-box has very little customization abilities. That's where the public comes in.

There are lots of people who spend a lot of time developing tweaks, applications, hacks and themes. The purpose of this website is to share those developments with you, to help you use these, and to share tips and tricks I have learned over the past year or so.

***Since this site is for iPhone and iPod touch users, instead of constanty saying "iPhone and iPod touch", I will refer to them as either "your device" or "iPs". (iPs is plural, iP is singular.) So anywhere on the site you see "your device" or "iP", I am referring to the iPhone (all generations) and the iPod touch (all generations).

SSH-ing

SSH-ing (stands for Secure SHell transfer) is transferring files from your computer to your iP. This is useful for moving Winterboard themes you downloaded on your computer to your iP.

SSH-ing is pretty easy once you do it the first time. You must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer to SSH.

1.  If you're on a PC, click here. If you're using a Mac, click here.

(On a PC, the download shoud start automatically. On a Mac, click Cyberduck-3.1.2.dmg, and the download should start.)

Let the download complete, and install the program.

2. Install OpenSSH from Cydia on your iP. (You obviously must be jailbroken to have Cydia.)

3. Open WinSCP or Cyberduck and connect to the device.

When it asks for a username, put your device's IP address, for example, 192.168.1.9. (To find this, on your device go to Settings, hit Wi-Fi, then click the arrow beside the name of the network you are connected to. You must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network on your iP as your computer.)

When it asks for your password, enter:

Wait for your computer to connect to your iP (a few seconds), and you're done. Good work

JAILBREAKING!

If you don't yet have a jailbroken device, this is a great place to start.

If you don't know what jailbreaking is, Wikipedia defines it as "a technique for overriding the software lock-down on the iPhone or iPod Touch in order to install applications that Apple has not approved". It basically allows you to heavily customize your device. One great reason to jailbreak is that you can install any paid App Store app, for FREE! (Cracked applications, or .ipas.) Another great reason (for iPhone users) is that you can unlock your device after jailbreaking. (Unlocking lets you switch service providers. For example, if you use AT&T, and want to use T-Mobile, unlocking will let you do this.)
